Operation Pumpkin Unload is a Success
Anticipation is making us wait! The excitement mounted as the long awaited tractor trailer carrying the pumpkins backed into the parking lot. The pallets that moments before had held hopping Cub Scouts were now empty as adults and children crowded toward the truck.
The sea of excited faces finally became two long lines inside and outside the truck as pumpkins were passed from hand to hand down the lines. The pallets were filled in just under an hour. When Tanner Mitchell, Webelo Scout appeared at the truck and declared “We’re done!”, a shout and applause came from the crowd.

Twilight Camp 2007 - Black River District
Knights in Shining Armor
Where did three packs join together each night in July for friendly tournaments? St Paul’s
Waccamaw hosted the Murrells Inlet Pack 396, Maryville Pack 341 and our home pack of Pawleys Island 323 during
the Twilight Camp for the Black River District.
Knights not only learned the medieval art of archery, but were able to learn skills on the BB range. Rangemaster, Kathi Lee of Pack 323, and four able assistants worked with the boys each night. All knights met the challenge safely.
On Friday night families were invited to witness the Tournament of the Arrows followed by the Joust Tournament. Green knights took the arrow tournament and proudly displayed their winning ribbon. Green and red knights worked together to win the Joust.
Knights and their families earned a feast of royal hot dogs, chivalrous chips, noble watermelon, courtly cookies, and castle lemonade.
Mr. Otto Freier, the Noble, dubbed the young knights in the closing ceremony and awarded their Knight Patch encased in a brand new patch holder.
Out of thirty-two boys there were three visitors that desired to join the Pawleys Island Pack. A big thanks to all who made the week for the
“Knights of the Round Tarp” possible.
