Chancel Choir Openings

The Chancel Choir has openings in all sections, soprano, alto, tenor, and bass. If you were fortunate enought to hear their glorious Spring concert with Brass and percussion, and have a desire to get in on "all the action", come join us on Wednesday evening at 7PM. There is no audition. Some choral experience is nice but not necessary. Just a craving to sing is all you need!

The Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir, conducted by Dr. Robert Baxter, with accompanist, Olivia Huggins, sings for the 8:45 am service and gives two major concerts each year. In addition there is a Hymn and Anthem St Paul's Waccamaw UMC Chancel Choir Festival with brass quintet given biannually. On Sunday, December 4, 2011, the Chancel Choir will present A Festival of Lessons and Carols at 845 and 11:00 am services, featuring Rebecca Nissen, harpist, and narrative, Rev. Toombs Kay. On Palm Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 4 pm, the Chancel Choir will present The Seven Last Words of Christ, by Theodore Dubois. The choir will be assisted by a chamber ensemble and guest soloists in the sanctuary.

The Praise Choir

The Praise Choir provides music leadership for the blended service at 11:00 am. We currently have 10 members and a guitarist, and we hope to add more instruments. Rehearsals are Wednesday night at 6:00 pm. New members are always welcome….no auditions required.

Handbell Ensemble

The Handbell Ensemble, led by Phyllis Umstead, is a wonderful opportunity to become part of the church’s music team and the joy of participation. The ensemble uses quartet and quintet music written specifically for bells. Each ringer needs to be comfortable with handling four or more bells and enjoy the rhythm of trading a bell off to a companion ringer when necessary to complete the music. The ensemble uses our four octaves of beautiful Malmark handbells. Rehearsals take place each Wednesday for one hour beginning at 6:00 pm, and they ring praises to the Lord at Sunday morning worship on the average of every four to six weeks. The only requirement for ensemble participation is the ability to read music.

Children's Choir

The Children’s Choir, led by Betty Moss McGuirt, helps in nurturing children in the Christian faith through music. Children, ages 4 years through 6th grade, participate in various musical activities, helping them learn Biblical stories of our faith. At the same time they are learning techniques, rhythms, and songs as well as the basic skills of following directions and working together. The choir sings for worship services, special events and musicals throughout the school year. Rehearsals are each Sunday during the Sunday school gathering time and during Children’s Church, held during the adult 11:00 am worship service. All Children of the church and community are invited to join in this fun time.
