St Paul's Waccamaw UMC Youth MinistryThe goal of Youth Ministry at St. Paul’s Waccamaw UMC is to nurture young people into wholeness in Christ. Our basis for this is found in Ephesians 4:12-13. Paul says we are to become “mature people reaching to the very height of Christ's full statue”.

It takes many different experiences, and working together, to discover our own gifts. Some of the places we do that are listed below.

Salkehatchie
Salkehatchie is our major mission trip. If you are 14 years old by the time the trip begins then you are eligible to go. We work on homes for those who cannot do the work themselves. This  includes carpentry, roofing, painting, childcare, and most importantly, sharing God’s love with the family you work for, your crew, and everyone you meet.

Sunday School
Sunday School meets Sunday mornings from 10:00-10:45 a.m. We meet in the youth center and study God’s Word. We discuss what we are reading, and how it relates to us today. Anyone in grades 6-12 is welcome.

Youth Fellowship at St. Paul's Waccamaw UMCUnited Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF)
This group meets each Sunday from 5:30 -8:00 pm and you never know what's going to happen here. We always eat, we always study the bible, but sometimes we practice skits, we talk about what we want to do, and mostly we are in fellowship with each other. Come on out and bring a friend!

A Different Direction (A.D.D.)
St. Paul's Waccamaw is now the home of A.D.D. This is a community ministry for all middle schoolers in the Grand Strand area. We have hang out times, games, a SHORT message, and small groups which are the best! We also have great retreats to Caswell. Check out our website at www.gsyouth.com.

Youth Council
2007-2008 Officers
President: Robert Archambeau
Vice President: Rebecca Sinkway
  • Who decides what activities the youth will do?  Youth Council.
  • Who can participate on Youth Council?  ANYONE!
We need youth and adult volunteers to meet and plan fun stuff and projects for the year. If you have great ideas, or just ideas at all, come let your voice be heard.

Ski Trip
Our 2008 ski trip was a great success thanks to so many people. We had 10 youth snowboard, and enjoy programs, worship, and our big house. Look forward to 2009 plans!

Pumpkin Patch
This is the main fundraiser for our student missions. Throughout this month, the front lawn of St. Paul’s Waccamaw will be a Pumpkin Patch, where volunteers sell pumpkins. The Pumpkin Patch Players (mostly moms, grandma's, and granddads) entertain school children by giving performances during many of these days. These pumpkins come from a Native American farm in New Mexico. Our purchase from them supports their village, so it’s a mission all around.

We Need You!
St. Paul’s Waccamaw youth program is growing, and we have saved a place for you! We want to go more places, do more fun things, and learn more about Jesus and how we can serve Him. We want to make a difference in our church, our schools, and our world. We want you to come with us on this adventure. Don’t miss it!
